A Provo man has been arrested in connection with a rape that occurred early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. a female clerk was kidnapped at gunpoint from a convenience store on North State Street in Provo. She was taken in her vehicle to another location and raped, Provo Police Capt. George Pierpont said.After the rape the woman, 22, was released.
A 46-year-old man was arrested at his home shortly after the rape and booked into Provo City Jail.
Provo police said they are investigating a possible connection between the rape and others that have occurred recently in the area. The other rapes have involved the use of knives.
A handgun used in the Wednesday incident is missing. Police are asking for the public's help in locating the gun, described only as a small handgun, and a set of car keys.
