An escaped killer who was arrested during a drug investigation Wednesday was in Salt Lake County Jail awaiting extradition to Missouri.
Donald Ray Malson, 40, St. Charles, Mo., was arrested Tuesday night on State Street after officer Al Sawaya received information about a drug buy under way, said Lt. Joel Campbell.Malson was serving a life sentence on his guilty plea to second-degree murder in the 1981 shooting death of a man whose nude body was found in a St. Louis suburb. He escaped from the St. Mary's Honor Farm.

Malson's companion, whose name was not released, also was arrested after officers discovered the man was wanted in Oregon in connection with a sexual assault case, Campbell said.
