The Salt Lake Board of Education will accept applications for the vacant board seat from Precinct 3 until March 7 at noon.
Board President Stephen G. Boyden said the board will interview applicants on March 13 at 4 p.m. and the new board member will be announced March 14 at 6 p.m.Applicants must live in the precinct, which roughly runs from South Temple to 21st South and from Third East to the city's western limits.
The new member will replace Steven L. Olsen, who resigned Tuesday night after less than two months on the board. Olsen is moving to Heber Valley. By law, board members must live in the precinct they represent.
