Lane Birch, formerly manager of mergers and acquisitions for PacifiCorp, has been named director of economic development and planning for Utah Power & Light.
Birch, 34, has been with PacifiCorp since 1981 and has served in several capacities. In 1987, he was named director of the mergers and acquisitions department to work on the merger between PacifiCorp's Pacific Power and UP&L.The merger was completed earlier this year and UP&L and Pacific Power are now operating divisions of PacifiCorp, Portland, Ore.
In his new position, Birch will work on economic development in UP&L's service area. He will report to Dave Sloan, director of economic development for Pacific Power, and Verl Topham, executive vice president of operations for UP&L.
