A violent demonstration by students protesting police brutality left 39 militiamen wounded, a report by the official news agency said Saturday as dissidents denounced talks between the government and the banned union Solidarity.
The official Polish news service PAP reported officials said 39 militiamen were wounded during the demonstration in the southern city of Krakow Friday.Authorities detained 24 of the demonstrators but they were released after questioning, PAP said. The agency also reported 15 cars were damaged during the demonstration, called to protest police brutality.
