A Salt Lake snowmobiler, who had been the subject of a two-county search since he was reported missing Saturday afternoon, was found alive but suffering from hypothermia about 11 a.m. Monday by Summit and Uintah county search and rescue crews.
A Summit County Sheriff's dispatcher said a cross country skier with the Summit County Search and Rescue found the missing man, put him on a sled and brought him to an area where others could help care for him.The dispatcher said a rescue helicopter had been called, and she expected the 31-year-old man would arrive at a hospital by noon Monday. The victim's name was not released.
The man was last seen by two companions at the turnoff to Whitney Reservoir. His snowmobile was found near the Mill City Creek.
Rescue efforts began after the man was reported missing at 3 p.m. Saturday. The search was called off for a short time Sunday because heavy snow limited visibility, but searchers were out before daylight Monday.
