Leaders of a cross-section of Polish society organized by Solidarity leader Lech Walesa met in Gdansk Saturday to draw up final proposals he will take to historic reconciliation talks with the government beginning Monday.

The 128-member "citizens committee" was created Dec. 18 as a link between the outlawed Solidarity trade union and the communist government, which agreed to the reconciliation talks to work out social, economic and political reforms. In Warsaw, Politburo member Jozef Czyrek said a new formula for political reform will be tested at the talks, which are expected to include the union's re-legalization and the prospect of partially open elections to the parliament in May.
