Herman's World of Sporting Goods will ask the Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency to free it from its lease for its Block 57 store at 250 S. State in downtown Salt Lake City, an RDA agenda said.

RDA recently bought the store from the W & G company, which owns the storefront occupied by Herman's, in an attempt to secure more land on the ailing Block 57, focal point of the city's redevelopment efforts.Herman's attempted to be released from the lease last year, but the agency postponed a vote on the release until a counteroffer could be made to Herman's. Tonight, the RDA will make the counteroffer or agree to release Herman's.
