State insurance regulators have issued a warning not to buy insurance from Ronald V. Twitchell and his agency Ronco Insurance Brokers in West Valley City.
But Twitchell says the notice is unnecessary."I'm not soliciting or operating an insurance business at all," he told the Deseret News.
Regulators said they revoked Twitchell's license and fined him $10,000 last year because his company was "acting" as an insurance carrier rather than just a brokerage. "However, the department has since learned that they are continuing their insurance activities," the notice said.
The phone line to Ronco Insurance Brokers has been disconnected and Twitchell, contacted at his home, said the office is closed and he is not in the insurance business. He declined to discuss the department's notice any further.
The department was equally evasive in discussing why it believes Twitchell is still selling insurance.
