A Riverton man was killed Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a tractor-trailer truck.

William A. Robinson, 24, Riverton, was killed when the motorcycle fuel tank exploded when it collided with the back of the rig, officials said. He died at the scene of the accident, 11450 S. Redwood Road."A truck pulling an empty trailer pulled out of a Texaco station north onto Redwood. The motorcycle was northbound on Redwood Road and (crashed) into the back of the trailer," said Police Chief Duane Sutherland.

"The victim on the motorcycle was thrown approximately 40 or 50 feet. The motorcycle burned on impact," Sutherland said.

The driver of the truck, whose name was not released, was treated for shock at Jordan Valley Hospital. The 8:33 p.m. Saturday crash snarled traffic for two hours.
