A Provo man shot in the face during an argument in a downtown restaurant over the weekend remained in critical condition Tuesday.

Grant Glover, 22, underwent surgery Monday evening during which doctors at LDS Hospital removed a bullet that had entered his right eye, said homicide squad Sgt. Chuck Cockayne. The events leading to the shooting began about 2 a.m. in a restaurant at 177 E. Second South when Glover and two other people began arguing. Glover was escorted outside the restaurant, but he waited around with some friends.

"The suspect and his friends went outside later, words were exchanged and it looked like it was going to be a fight," Cockayne said. "But before it got to that, (someone) pulled a gun and shot the victim."

Police arrested Mark Harrison, 19, and booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide. Harrison, a former Job Corps student, had been living in a Salt Lake apartment and working at a downtown hotel.
