Spring is in the air, and folks are spending more time outdoors, realizing the need for another cleanup.

Valley West Chamber of Commerce will come to the aid with the annual "Lookin' Good" spring cleanup campaign April 21-29.Janice Aoki, chamber board member, said the campaign, which last year collected 139 tons of debris, was started to bring about greater awareness of the need for a litter-free environment.

Citizens may use trash bins belonging to Waste Management of Salt Lake from noon to 5 p.m. April 28 and all day (until 5 p.m.) on April 29 at several sites: West Valley City Hall, 2470 S. Redwood Rd.; LDS Church buildings at 4250 S. 32nd West and 6725 W. 38th South; new West Valley City Hall site, 3600 S. Market St.; Utah Power & Light Co., 5800 W. 41st South; Woodledge Park, 5180 W. 4310 South; and on the west side of Harmon's, 3500 S. 40th West.

All trash - excluding tires, hazardous waste materials, chemicals, oil or paint - must be placed inside the trash bins.

The Salt Lake County Landfill, 6030 W. 13th South, is open free to the public during April.

As an added enticement, West Valley City firefighters will hand out free drink coupons April 22 and April 29.

More information on the cleanup is available by calling the chamber office, 969-8755, or the city's ordinance enforcement department, 975-5501.
