A Salt Lake man has been charged with attempted criminal homicide in connection with the shooting Sunday of a Provo man outside a downtown restaurant.

Mark Deron Harrison, 18, is named in a second-degree felony complaint filed Wednesday in 3rd Circuit Court. He is accused of trying to kill Grant Glover, 22, who was shot in the right eye during an altercation about 2:30 a.m. Sunday outside a restaurant at 177 E. Second South.

Glover, who underwent surgery Monday to have the bullet removed, remained in critical condition Friday at LDS Hospital.

Though police have decline to speculate whether the shooting was gang-related, a witness told the Deseret News that one of the people backing Glover in the fight was heard to say something like, "You don't know who you're messing with. We're the L.A. Crips."

The Crips is a gang, primarily composed of blacks, that originated in Los Angeles. The rival gang is the "Bloods."
