A man questioned in connection with the disappearance of a Spanish Fork woman received a suspended prison sentence Friday for theft and was placed on 18 months probation.
Michael I. Kufrin, 32, who was arrested last December in Nevada on theft charges, had been sought in connection with the disappearance of his former live-in girlfriend, 28-year-old Peggy Ellsworth Case. When last seen July 9, Case was with Kufrin at a party.Fourth District Judge Boyd L. Park sentenced the defendant, who pleaded guilty last month to theft of a firearm, to a suspended prison term of zero to five years. As terms of his probation, Kufrin was sentenced to 102 days in jail, which he has already served, and was fined $625.
Police questioned Kufrin about Case but have no evidence on which to hold him in connection with her disappearance. Kufrin says he has spoken with her via telephone since the July 9 party but said he does not know where she is.
