Winners and runners-up in the 28th annual Deseret News-KSL Sterling Scholar Awards program will be announced April 12 from the stage of Cottonwood High School.
During a televised ceremony at 7 p.m., the 180 finalists will be introduced by category and then recipients of the top awards will be disclosed. They were selected April 5 during final judging at Skyline High School.The students were judged, through student portfolios and personal interviews, on scholastic excellence, citizenship and leadership by educators and civic leaders.
In addition to the student honors, a high school teacher, nominated by the students and selected by a committee, will be named recipient of the sixth annual "Most Influential Teacher Award."
The ceremony will be telecast live on KSL-TV, channel 5, and parents, family members and friends are invited. Presentation of awards will be made by community leaders.
