PRESIDENT MONSON ATTENDS NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST

President Thomas S. Monson participated May 4 in the National Prayer Breakfast at the White House, during which President Bush announced that hereafter the first Thursday in May will be declared a national day of prayer.

President Monson, second counselor in the First Presidency, attended the breakfast as the official representative of the Church. He attended with other prominent religious leaders from throughout the country.At the breakfast, President Bush also emphasized the importance of the family, and the necessity for people of all faiths to express their gratitude to God and to seek the blessings of Divine Providence in their lives.
