300 WORKERS TO GET VCRS

Some 300 employees of the Salt Lake operation of Stone Container Corp., 2357 S. Ninth West, have been notified they will receive a videocassette recorder in appreciation for their work and dedication in 1988. Nationwide, the company will give one of the machines to each of 24,000 permanent and part-time employees.

Roger Stone, chairman and chief executive officer of the Chicago-based producer of paper and packaging products, gave the good news to his employees via a videotaped message. Last year the employees each received a 19-inch color television set in appreciation for their work in 1987."To impress upon our employees how much we appreciate all their efforts, we're pressenting what we believe may be one of the largest employee reward programs ever developed by an industrial company," he said.

Stone said a VCR was selected because it is a gift for the entire family and the company appreciates the support the employee's families give to the company.
