Calling her the top recruit they've ever signed, BYU track coaches announced this week the signing of star prep distance runner Tonya Todd to a letter of intent.

Todd, of British Columbia, has the best junior-age times in Canada for both the 1,500 (4:24) and 3,000 (9:22) meters. Her times in the 3,000 the last two years have been better than any prep runner in the U.S.The Cougars also signed another Canadian, Missy McLeary (of Ontario), who, like Todd, has competed internationally with the Canadian Junior Olympic Team. McLeary, who missed last season because of injury, has best times of 4:35 in the 1500, 4:54 in the mile, and 9:54 in the 3,000.
