Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, called this week on Greece to honor an extradition treaty and send terrorist Mohammed Rashid to the U.S. to stand trial.

Rashid is serving a seven-month jail sentence in Athens for a passport violation. He is wanted by the United States for bombing U.S. airliners.A Greek judicial council found the United States had presented sufficient evidence to warrant extradition of Rashid, but the decision now rests with the Greek Supreme Court.

Hatch noted that Greece has an "abominable track record" in extraditing known terrorists. "We can bring a terrorist to justice only if Greece will extradite him," Hatch said.
