A Utah County Jail inmate who was stabbed in the neck during the escape of another inmate was in satisfactory condition Wednesday in Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

The incident occurred early Monday, but the name of the stabbing victim was not released.The escapee, Kenneth W. Sharrer, was recaptured by Utah County deputy sheriffs and Provo police at 1:15 p.m. Monday near the railroad tracks west of the jail. Sharrer escaped from the jail about 6:30 a.m. after an altercation with another inmate. Both inmates were on trusty status and were working in the jail's kitchen at the time of the incident.
