The Nevada Public Service Commission has completed its investigation into potential causes of the blast last year that leveled Pacific Engineering and Production Co. in Henderson, Nev., an official said Tuesday.

Commission chairman Tom Stephens said the PSC investigation focuses on a Southwest Gas Co. pipeline beneath the plant.PEPCON officials claim the pipeline ruptured, leading to the fire and explosions at the plant that killed two workers, injured more than 350 people and caused an estimated $74 million in damage in the Las Vegas Valley.

Southwest Gas Co. officials maintain the pipeline was not to blame for the blast. The gas company supports reports by the Clark County Fire Department and the United Steelworkers union, which say negligence on the part of PEPCON caused the disaster.
