Garrison Keillor, whose folksy radio program "A Prairie Home Companion" made him a national celebrity before he left for the bright lights of New York, may be heading back to Minnesota.
Minnesota Public Radio, which produced and co-owns the popular variety show with Keillor as host, says it is discussing possible radio projects with the author, who now writes for The New Yorker magazine."We have been talking with Garrison over the past several months about the possibility of his returning to radio on a semiregular basis," Minnesota public radio spokeswoman Chris Langer said.
Langer said it is too early to tell what kind of a show it might be or how often it would be broadcast.
Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion" was a weekly live variety program broadcast nationally on public radio stations and featured his monologues about the mythical Minnesota town of Lake Wobegone.
Since the show ended in 1987, Keillor has done about four or five radio shows a year.
