WEEK RECOGNIZES UTAH `AMERICAN MOTHERS'

Gov. Norm Bangerter has declared May 14-20 Utah American Mothers Week in honor not only of Mother's Day but also of members of the Utah American Mothers who competed in the 1989 National American Mothers Convention in Spokane this spring.

Those participating included Joanne Todd McKenna, Hyde Park, Cache County, 1989 Utah Mother of the Year; Diane Rich Weese, Logan, 1989 Utah Young Mother Representative; LaVon Merrill, Salt Lake City, who won first place in the National American Mothers Fine Arts competition; Patricia Ramsey-Jones, West Jordan, who won first place for short story; and Giselle Nash, Orem, who won first place in the sculpture competition.
