West High School students who wrote, filmed, produced and starred in a music video have made it into the finals of the Nutrition Music Video contest sponsored by the Florida Department of Citrus.
The video begins with a cool young guy tooling down a lonesome road on his motorcycle. He sees a pretty girl whose car has broken down. She is sipping a tall, cool glass of orange juice. He stops, she offers him a drink of orange juice and gets on his chopper. They ride away. They kiss. Along the way they discuss how delicious and nutritious orange juice is.Sheridan Prince, West High School's media adviser, says the direction and camera technique are professional. "We're all pretty excited we're one of the top 12 videos in the finals."
Grand-prize winners will be flown to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., for a three-day stay. At the award ceremony May 25, the winning videos will be shown and the top prize-winning team will get a check for $1,500 for their school.
There will also be prizes for second- and third-place videos as well as special awards for best music and most humorous videos.
The music for the video was composed and performed by Lorenzo Gonzolez, who also starred with Katie Norman. The video was directed by Donald Dunn and the cameramen were Robert Bogue and Roy Wilhelm.
Prince said his video production class has entered the contest before and took second place one year and third place last year.
