FREAK ACCIDENT CLAIMS AN ENGINEER

Rochester, N.Y., police and railroad employees discuss a freak accident early Friday that killed an assistant Amtrak engineer when a load of lumber from a passing Conrail freight train shifted, sending several boards through the locomotive's right windshield. P.L. Sylvester of Kirkville, N.Y., was killed instantly. No one else was injured. The Amtrak train was bound for Chicago.
