Andre Agassi scored two straight-set victories in four hours Friday and top-seeded Mats Wilander was upset by American Jay Berger at the Italian Open.
Agassi, seeded No. 2, reached the semifinals and became the tournament favorite after Wilander was upset 6-3, 6-4.Agassi began the day by completing a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Mexico's Leonardo Lavalle. The match had been suspended after the first set Thursday because of rain. He later beat No. 8 seed Guillermo Perez-Roldan of Argentina 6-3, 6-1.
Agassi will face unseeded Sergi Bruguera, who ousted Jimmy Connors in the third round and Mark Koevermans of the Netherlands 6-2, 6-4 on Friday.
Alberto Mancini of Argentina, reached the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 victory over Italy's Omar Camporese.
