A group of Salt Lake residents has organized a neighborhood effort to clean up the banks of the Jordan River in their area.
Neighborhood families will join city, county and state officials June 3 to participate in the effort. Anyone else who would like to help is invited.During February, the Salt Lake Citizens Congress met with river officials to complain about the condition of the river in their neighborhoods. They were told that it was up to them to take the initiative by organizing cleanup projects and lobbying lawmakers for funding. The proposed cleanup is a result of that meeting.
Participants are encouraged to meet at 965 W. First South at 10 a.m. Families are needed to bring shovels, rakes and other yard tools. For more information, call Karen Silver at 359-2444.
