About 100 Salt Lake workers exchanged their blue suits and briefcases for biking shorts and helmets for Mayor Palmer DePaulis' annual Bike to Work Day. DePaulis, radio host Tom Barberi and police officers from the department's bicycle patrol joined scores of others for the ride from Liberty Park to the City-County Building. Traffic was blocked at intersections by police cars as the parade of pedalers made its way to city offices. On Washington Square, bikers gathered for some backslapping, doughnuts, juice and door prizes awarded by local sponsors. DePaulis thanked bikers for turning out in ever-increasing numbers and predicted the annual event would continue to grow.
