Residents traveling to the city landfill should tie down and cover loads they are transporting.
The new landfill is in the foothills west of Nephi. Many of those transporting trash travel SR-132. In a recent Nephi City Council meeting, council members voted to request help in cutting down on the trash being lost and left along the roadway.Juab County Sheriff Dave Carter said his deputies will be looking for people who are transporting unsecured loads. Those losing trash along the roadways leading to the trash dumping area will be cited for littering. Citations will also be given for failure to secure loads.
The usual fine for littering in Juab is $65, but the fine can go as high as $1,000 for those who habitually litter, who lose large amounts of trash or who continue to disregard the law after being warned.
