FHP GETS APPROVAL TO START CONSTRUCTION OF OGDEN BUILDING

FHP, Utah's largest health maintenance organization, has received formal corporate approval to begin construction on a new 30,000-square- foot, two-story medical, dental, optical and birthing center in Ogden.

Construction of the $3.7 million facility is to begin immediately and will be completed in the first quarter of 1990. It will be on five acres adjacent to I-15, north of 21st Street.Meanwhile, FHP will also be expanding its Redwood Medical Center, the largest of FHP's nine Utah facilities.

The $1,060,000 expansion of the Salt Lake center will also begin immediately.

"FHP will be providing up to 30 new exam rooms; additional room for X-ray reading; and a larger pharmacy, optical area, and child care room, all to better serve our members," said Lynn Ritchie, director of operations.

FHP's Redwood Center, which opened in July 1985, reported 8,100 member visits by October. Resulting from membership growth, FHP today estimates more than 16,000 member visits per month - necessitating the center's expansion plan.

The new Ogden center is also designed to meet FHP's increasing membership in Weber, Davis and Box Elder counties.
