A new stake has been created in the Philippines. Created from a mission district in the Philippines Baguio Mission, the new stake consists of the Laoag 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Bacarra, San Nicolas, and Batac wards, and the Badoc, Paoay, Pasaquin and San Lorenzo branches. Elder Philip T. Sonntag of the Second Quorum of the Seventy officiated at the creation of the stake.

Elsewhere, stakes were reorganized in Cheltenham, England; Peoria, Ill.; Pocatello, Idaho; and Provo and Sandy, Utah.BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY 1ST STAKE: (April 9, 1989) President - Mark James Howard, 47, executive director of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, succeeding William G. Butterfield, 59, associate professor at BYU, former high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, married Fay Bernice Richards; Roland Kay Monson, 44, optometrist, former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop's counselor, elders quorum president and Young Men president, married Susan Loveridge.
