The lavender-to-salmon glow of an evening sunset as seen from Dead Horse Point is just one factor that has seen tourism shoot up in southern Utah this year. Masayoshi Kobayashi, a tourist from Japan, was a May visitor to the Canyonlands area. In the first three months of this year, 23,528 people viewed the Canyonlands vista from Dead Horse Point. Last year, 19,228 made the Dead Horse stop during the same period.
