After determining it had been paying twice as much for annual audits as other school districts, the Juab School District Board of Education voted to call for new proposals for its 1988 audit.

Mort Hill, Salt Lake City, has prepared the audit for the district for the past 51 years. But board members decided the fee was nearly double the fee being paid by other districts of the same size. The audit cost the district approximately $20,000 last year, and other districts are paying about $10,000, reported Tracy Olsen, district clerk.Olsen is a certified public account who specialized in school finance, said board President Leon Pexton.

He agreed the district had been receiving a high quality audit, but he thought audits of the same quality could be obtained by the district for much less money. In addition, Olsen could perform some of the tasks, which would also help save money.
