Search and rescue workers continued to search Tuesday for the body of a Kearns man believed to have drowned in Deer Creek Reservoir Sunday afternoon.
Craig Bird, 29, was fishing about 5 p.m. Sunday when he got a snag in his line and swam out into the reservoir to untangle his line, said Wasatch County sheriff's dispatcher Todd Bonner.Witnesses said Bird got cramps and began yelling for help. One of his fishing companions then swam out to try and rescue him from the 140-foot deep area near the dam, Bonner said.
"By the time he got out to him, he'd gone down, and they never saw him again," he said.
Search and rescue workers have been raking the bottom of the lake and using sonar equipment to try and locate the body but so far have had no success, a sheriff's dispatcher said Tuesday morning.
