SHARE BROWNING’S HONORARY CHAIRMAN RECEIVES AWARD FROM BELGIANS

Val A. Browning, Ogden, 94, honorary chairman of the board of Browning, the international arms manufacturer and sporting goods company that has its headquarters in Mountain Green, Morgan County, has been decorated by King Baudouin of Belgium as Commandeur de l'Ordre de la Couronne for services rendered to that country. Commander is the highest rank within the Order of the Crown.

Belgium awarded Browning the title of Knight of the Order of Leopold in 1955, Officer of the Order of Leopold II in 1965 and Officer of the Order of the Crown in 1978. The decoration ceremonies and presentation of the insignia will take place in Belgium Sept. 21.Browning, the son of the famous Ogden gun inventor John M. Browning, is an inventor in his own right and holds 46 U.S. and foreign patents connected with the manufacture of firearms.
