Eight senior racers and five juniors qualified for national competition during Sunday's District Road Race Cycling Championships.
Leading the list was Chris Rogers of Mi Duole racing club, winning the Senior Men's race with a 3:45 time over the 85-mile event. Three other seniors qualified for the nationals, including Steve Johnson of Montgomery Securities and Jace Brewer and Marty Jemison, also of Mi Duole.Park City's Madonna Harris won the 43-mile Senior Women's competition, racing for Team Subaru and registering a 2:14.15 time. She will be joined at the nationals by Teresa Williams of Park City Cycling Club and Anne Weiland and Tammy Jacques of Pedali.
Sandy's Gavin Storie won the Junior Men competition, racing for Utah Premier. He clocked a 2:18 winning time, qualifying for the junior nationals as well as the U.S. Olympic Festival.
In Junior 16 competition, David Francis of Vicious Cycle qualified for the nationals by winning his event. Second-place Burke Swindlehurst, also of Vicious Cycle, was an automatic qualifier.
Other junior national qualifiers were Adam Crystal and Richie Butler (Vicious Cycle) and Francis Mejia (Utah Premier).
