The City Council has scheduled a June 27 public hearing on a proposal to construct a reservoir within city limits to bring pressurized secondary water to residents.

Floyd Baham of Davis & Webr Counties Canal Co. said the company plans to purchase 11 acres in Sunset if it receives approval for one or more secondary water reservoirs. The water could serve surrounding communities, as well as Sunset, and be part of an interconnecting system running from Riverdale through Kaysville, Baham said.

A commitment to secondary water for local communities would "keep water in the area," he said, prohibiting the state from taking water from the Weber River for Salt Lake City.

Baham, who contends it wouldn't be feasible to supply pressurized secondary water to some Sunset residents and not others, has suggested an ordinance to ensure everyone hooks up to the system.
