A 15-year-old runaway was reportedly raped Sunday by two men, believed to be members of a gang, who were upset over a bad drug deal.

The girl, a runaway from a state group home, told police her friends sold two men some white powder purported to be cocaine but which turned out to be a fake, probably aspirin, according to a police report. The alleged transaction occurred at a house in the Fourth East block of Eighth South. The men became angry and held the girl as "collateral" until her friends could come up with some real cocaine, according to the report.

When her friends failed to show up with the drugs, the men raped the girl, then threatened to kill her, according to the report.

Police transported the victim to a hospital for tests and then took her to the juvenile detention center after learning she had escaped from a state home for girls.

According to the report, police believe the assailants might be members of the Bloods, a violent black gang that originated in Los Angeles.
