A South Weber man was cited for discharging a firearm and disorderly conduct Sunday night after firing a gun inside his house during a family dispute, according to the Davis County sheriff's office.

Sgt. Kenny Payne said the incident occurred near Ninth East and 73rd South shortly after 8 p.m.The man's wife ran from their home and called police after the shot was fired, Payne said.

Deputies, assisted by officers from the Layton and Riverdale police departments and deputies from Weber County, were cordoning off the area when the suspect ran out the back door of his house and into a field, Payne said.

Deputies chased him down, then transported him to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
