The death of a Salt Lake man whose nude body was found in his tub May 7 has been ruled a homicide.
Lee W. Eagar, 29, was beaten repeatedly with a belt and belt buckle and then had several gallons of scalding water poured over him in the tub in his apartment, 544 E. First South, said detective Lt. Norm Thompson.Eagar died of "scald-type thermo burns," according to an autopsy by the state medical examiner. The victim suffered blows from the belt on his torso and face and burns on his legs, shoulders, head and chest.
Though no charges have been filed, police have a suspect, who is in custody in a mental health facility, Thompson said.
Eagar's death is Salt Lake City's 14th homicide this year.
