A Payson man died Wednesday of injuries suffered in a 30-foot fall early Tuesday at the Kennecott Smelter.
Don Herbert, 25, was on a catwalk, cleaning a pollution control device, about 1:40 a.m. when he fell, striking his head on a steel beam on the way down, according to a Salt Lake County sheriff's office report.Herbert, who was employed by an Orem contractor, was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital and then to University Hospital, where he died Wednesday morning.
