SHARE S.L. STUDENT GETS SCHOLARSHIP TO R.I. UNIVERSITY

Libero Della Piana, a student of Rowland Hall-Saint Mark High School, Salt Lake City, has been named the recipient of a renewable Achievement Scholarship from Brown University, an Ivy League college in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Achievement Program, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, was started in 1964 and exists specifically to identify and publicly recognize secondary students who are Black Americans. Winners compete with students all over the country on the basis of scholastic test scores, extracurricular accomplishments and goals.Some 700 Achievement Scholarships, worth approximately $3 million, are being awarded this year to outstanding black students.
