There is probably no connection between the slaying of an 11-year-old Washington Terrace girl last week and several kidnappings of girls in Salt Lake and Davis Counties, Police Chief Gary Tracy said Tuesday.

Law enforcement officials from Weber and the other two counties met Monday to try to determine if the same man was prowling the Wasatch Front sexually assaulting girls."We found no immediate similarities between the incidents," said Tracy. "From the surface of it, it doesn't look remotely like they are connected. It (the evidence) doesn't even look close."

However, Tracy said that a slim possibility does exist that the same unknown man is committing all the sexual crimes in those three counties. He said the police from the three counties would meet again in Salt Lake City Wednesday to go over the cases.

The body of Charla Nicole King was discovered by her mother, Sharron King Rader, Friday afternoon in their Washington Terrace apartment.

An autopsy revealed that the girl died from strangulation and that she had been sexually assaulted.

Police suspected a link between her murder and other sexual assaults in Salt Lake and Davis Counties in which young girls were taken from their bedrooms during the night and assaulted.

The last incident happened about a week ago in West Valley City.
