Bahamian officials seized more than a ton of cocaine and arrested six people after law enforcement agencies saw a plane drop packages onto a Bahamian island, the Coast Guard announced Tuesday.

Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and the Georgia National Guard saw the plane make its drop near Cay Sal Bank, about 100 miles southeast of Miami early Sunday, said Lt. Jeff Karonis. Officials from the Coast Guard cutter Seahawk stopped and searched a 40-foot cigarette boat traveling near Cay Sal Bank. They detained the boat's six crew members after finding traces of cocaine aboard the boat, Karonis said.
