SHARE SCIENCE DEAN IS 1ST FEMALE PROVOST AT USU

Chemist Karen W. Morse, dean of the College of Science, was named Tuesday as provost at Utah State University. Morse is a former head of the chemistry and biochemistry department at USU.

A member of the Governor's Science Council and the Governor's Fusion/Energy Advisory Council, she received the Associated Students of USU Faculty Service Award in 1988.The first female to be appointed provost at USU, Morse will succeed Peter Wagner, who resigned to become provost of State University of New York at Binghamton. Her appointment is effective July 15.
