An argument on I-215 led to a high-speed chase and a four-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

An 18-year-old man and his passenger reportedly got into a verbal argument with another motorist that led to the vehicles repeatedly sideswiping each other.Trooper Larry Wehrli, in his parked car, said he saw the 18-year-old's car speed by as the other driver pulled over and reported his car had been hit. Both men followed the speeding car.

Fleeing at a peak speed of 100 mph, the driver took the Redwood Road exit at 65 mph, Wehrli said. His brakes locked and the car skidded 100 feet, hit and flipped over a van, knocked another car under a semitrailer and then ran into the rig.

The 18-year-old, his passenger and the other drivers were treated and released at a local hospital, the trooper said.
