-Utah House Speaker Nolan Karras, R-Roy, has been honored by the University of Utah's student chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting fraternity.
Karras is a certified public accountant and investment counselor.
Karras graduated from Weber State College with a bachelor's degree in banking and finance. He earned a master of business administration from the U. in 1970. He received the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants' 1987 Distinguished Service Award.
-Sumana Yong, a 1989 graduate of Kearns High, has been awarded a $10,000 four-year scholarship from Pennzoil Co. Fifteen scholarships are given annually to children of Pennzoil employees.
The daughter of Neary and Kim Yong, Sumana plans to attend the U. majoring in business management and administration.
-Diane Hagen, arts and crafts teacher at Dugway High School, submitted the winning poster representing the Tooele County Arts Festival. Hagen received a $100 prize for creating the design, which was featured on T-shirts and posters throughout the three-day event earlier this month.
