Murray School District honored 47 outstanding students this week with the third annual Superintendent's Awards.
The students received plaques and gift certificates or savings bonds. The awards were presented by Superintendent Ron Stephens at student assemblies.At Murray High, 20 seniors were selected based on their grades in advanced placement classes. In the junior high schools, the awards were based on general academic excellence.
Awards will also be made to elementary schoolchildren based on their standardized test scores, but the test results have not been tabulated yet. These awards will be made in the fall.
The awards were funded by Standard Optical and the Incentives for Excellence Program at the State Office of Education.
