SHARE POLICE BELIEVE STABBING DEATH, THEFT MAY BE TIED

An investigation is continuing into the murder of a man who was found outside a senior citizens center next to some stolen goods.

Detective John Stubbs said no arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon. The victim was identified as Oscar E. Varilla, who died of a stab wound to the chest. His body was found Thursday morning sprawled outside the Golden Hours Center in Lester Park in downtown Ogden.Police reports state that a television and stereo system had been reported stolen at a nearby house shortly before the body was found. The items were found in some bushes near the body.

Police believe the murder and theft were related.
