SHARE UTAH NAMES NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MINING

Lowell P. Braxton is the new associate director of mining for the Utah Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil, Gas and Mining.

Braxton, who has been the administrator of the division's coal and minerals regulatory programs for the past four years and was a geologist and exploration manager for Gulf Oil Corp. for 17 years. His new assignment will be to oversee the division's mining and reclamation section.Braxton earned a bachelor's degree in geology at Earlham College and a master's degree in earth science at Indiana University. He replaces Ken May who recently accepted a job with Consumers Power of Michigan.
